I feel like I shouldn't admit this, but oh, I really think this book I wrote is good stuff. I'm looking over Dwarf's Blood Mead to mangle it into oblivion synopsize it, and I'm faintly embarrassed by how much I'm into my own book.

I don't think this means I will be unable to take criticism or edits for it. I just...I really like it. I think I did good work with this one, and while I think I'm doing good work on the Finnish books, they're not even remotely ready like this one is. And...well...I like it.

Is that okay? Or am I supposed to keep my mouth shut on it?

You should love it, and you should be proud to admit you love it. Too many people pour their hearts into their best work and then say "well, this isn't very good, I guess you could read it if you want..." and then they don't understand why other people aren't enthused. I'm glad you're excited and pleased by it. Can't wait until the rest of us get a chance to read it!

It's absolutely okay. When I got the real glued copies of some of my books, I ended up rereading up to half of each of them on the spot.

I suppose that prudence might dictate that one admit to such feelings only amongst one's fellow artists, but then again it might not.

The alternative for me has not been disliking it but rather looking at it and thinking "someday this will be a pretty decent book," with the implication that today is definitely not that day.
