I am not going so far as to declare today a day off, because I really want to work on the book, and things are not going to be good for that starting Friday: [livejournal.com profile] markgritter and I are going to Omaha for the weekend for one last time with my parents and my grands each having a house there, and then we'll get back and have a partial week, and then I'll be doing Minicon stuff. (Pre-con neuroses have not yet kicked in. Check back later.)

Still, the state of the shoulder is a bit grim. I'm calling my massage place as soon as they open. The owner is a PT, so if we've missed anything important about the shoulder, she will know, and she will tell me, and I will go deal with it. But I really think I just strained it and messed up the rest of my back in the process. I keep thinking of the spraining of one's dignity at the beginning of A Wrinkle in Time, but as I had no dignity to begin with, this is not an issue. Anyway: Advil is our friend. And the whole business is making me sick at my stomach again, oh hurrah. I have some confidence that my massage people will make things better.

The ENT has confirmed that I have another sinus infection (wheee) and says that if I come back with another in the next few months, she will have my head examined. Specifically, she will order a CAT scan of my sinuses to make sure there's nothing new and structurally wrong; there was nothing on the MRI from August, but August was awhile ago, so.

[livejournal.com profile] seagrit is now linking pictures, so I know it's okay, so: behold, world! My niece!

She's lovely.

And as I am way behind with LJ, I get to say congratulations at the same time: congratulations! Like that.

I hope you get to avoid surgery, but - just in case - my step-daughter [livejournal.com profile] kosmickitten had to have some kind of nasal surgery because of recurring infections - I think they had to open up some kind of blockage. From what I saw of her experience, it's a bloody mess for a couple of days, but not terribly painful, and heals quickly.

That's good to hear, even though I, too, hope I get to avoid surgery.

Look at the hair on that kid! She's cute as a button; what a surprise. I love the way very new babies look as if they haven't quite realized that eyes can be opened and that will be interesting.

I was very sorry to hear about the shoulder and hope your nice massage people will indeed make things better.

P.

Well, and it only gets interesting over their first month of life, as far as I understand it: things are much fuzzier (again, as far as I understand it) to brand-new babies.

The thing I love best about babies and very small children is watching them figure stuff out. I like watching older children and adults figure stuff out, too, but it's hardwired to be less frequent, and it's socially encouraged to be less apparent.

Oh, what a precious pink and wrinkly little CUTIE! She looks so healthy and beautiful :) Huzzah!

ION, many wishes for shoulder-fixage and feel-betterishness. I'm sure taking that spill down the stairs didn't make your shoulder any happier than it already was. =/

She got to come home today, so that makes things even better for [livejournal.com profile] seagrit and Jeff.

The shoulder is much, much better than it was yesterday. The massage guy who sounds like [livejournal.com profile] alecaustin is money well spent.
