I posted this as a comment in someone's friendslocked entry complaining about her job, but hey, everyone likes to make fun of other people's cow-orkers and WCW at the same time, right?

This Is Just To Say
I have misunderstood
the e-mail
you sent to
my inbox

and which
you were probably
hoping
would make sense.

Forgive me.
It was so random
so incoherent
and so badly punctuated.

Definitely not plums, but beautiful.

William Carlos Williams initials look like the acronym for some wrestling federation though. My first thought was, "Yeah, I like to make fun of professional wrestlers. Sure."

Which reminds me of:

Because reading English does not work that way.

which I am thinking I may have to include in my next seminar about what my team does here.

I too thought, for one brief moment, that she was making fun of World Championship Wrestling ... not that, as you say, they couldn't stand some being made fun of.

I actually like Williams's work, but this made me crack up completely. There were no cats nearby to scare with my raucous hoots, but I did frighten a cardinal off the tree outside my window. He is now chipping plaintively a few bushes away. I don't think explaining the nuances of the situation to him would be very productive.

I believe "poetry slams" are something else completely.

There are sometimes things painted on the street that upset me in that way. I have theorized that Xing Ped is a tasty dish from East or Southeast Asia.

Well, for heaven's sake follow him. You can count it as research, and I seem to remember there's something you can do about the time problem.

Alternately, it just fits into the usual pattern of Westerners getting Eastern names backwards a lot; see Ozy and Millie's take on where the name comes from, here and here.

I identify with Millie all too often, I'm afraid.

=v= I've had similar thoughts about Xing Ped. I'm concerned that Ped To Yield gives exactly the wrong message, and I don't quite know what to make of Hump Speed.

That said, the WCW parody was great.

Hump Speed is new to me. I would imagine it varies according to...let's just stop now, actually.
