I went to get my back fixed, and [livejournal.com profile] timprov came home with a pillar of squid.

I have to admit, I didn't expect the squid. A pillar of cheese, maybe.

NOOOObody expects the pillar of squid!

Among its chief weapons are tentacles, suckers, and a phonetical devotion to the Poh-pay!

Wasn't that what happened to Lot's wife in the Bible? She looked back and turned into a pillar of squid?

...never mind.

I went differently Biblical with it: I told T. that if the Lord had appeared before the Israelites as a cloud by day and a pillar of squid by night, more people would be religious. Or at least different people.

Or perhaps this is what is known (in undersea circles) as being a Pillar of the Community.

Wasn't there something about a mad Arab and gods with tentacles and madness and all that?

Sing along!

I saw Mommy kissing Yog-Sothoth,
In the ring of stones on Sentinel Hill
My brother and I were spawned
From the Necronomicon
Dad looks just like his picture on page 751!

Now we will work to summon Yog-Sothoth,
The Key to where the Great Old Ones have trod.
He'd surely have come unglued
Had Armitage ever viewed
Mommy kissing Yog-Sothoth the god!

Do squid come in pillar form? I'm trying to envision something more than a wonderful caryatid, but failing miserably.

The image I had was something like one of those big giro things they cut bits of meat off to put in pitas, except with squid.

The squid in question is 350 million years old. Gyro meat is rarely more then 275 million, even in the mall.

Funny, I don't normally find squid rigid enough to stack. They tend more toward oozing piles than pillars.

But no lousy T-shirt?

We looked for one for [livejournal.com profile] markgritter, but none of them said, "My wife got her back fixed and my housemate got a pillar of squid and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."

You'll just have to get one made, then.

Zazzle.com.

Then everyone can have a shirt in a different color and with different fonts... And probably way too many other customizations. :>

I know, you can make stuff at Cafepress.com too. But aside from Zazzle's stupid policy of deleting anything I make Public [i.e., so supposedly I could sell it], I like them better than Cafepress. Zazzle is a TOY.

Ahem. Yes, I see by this that I really do need a hot drink and to goto bed.

It's about 15" high, 350 million years old. Black, grey, pointy.
