Have you ever tried to bake strawberry shortbreads and remain glum? Can't be done.

I haven't even eaten any of the dough. I don't have to. The smell of butter and good strawberry jam is enough.

Maybe I should try that, except that I'm not all that fond of strawberries. I do, however, have an excess of glum.

The jam shortbreads can be done with all sorts of jams. We've tried them with apricot, raspberry, and blackberry, as well as with lemon curd. It all worked just fine.

Well, toast is cheering, but that's hot butter and hot jam, and the smell of hot bread interacts a lot. So it's very different from the cold butter and jam.

It's extremely peculiar, and I can't explain it at all, but out of the corner of my eye, that icon is you with big, sweeping, folded angel wings. Not only did I see that the first time before I looked at it properly, the illusion returned when I turned my head away again.

Go figure. I don't usually ascribe angel-things to people, even subconsciously. I guess I must think strawberry shortbreads sound really good.

It would! But I had to settle for coffee and mince pies. Only the thought of that strawberry shortbread stole the mince pies' thunder. Recipe puuuuurlease!
