I bought what was supposed to be a roll of gold and a roll of silver wrapping paper, reasoning that they were dressy for wedding presents but not so weddingy I couldn't use them on other things in a pinch. I opened the roll of silver to wrap the antifreeze (it was 94c and it was on their list and it's not all we got them, all right?), and lo and behold, oh my oh my oh my, it was not silver paper. It was cellophane wrapped around a silver tube. This is cheating. And God only knows what I will do with a roll of cellophane. So the antifreeze got gold wrap and the baking dishes got red and they will have to be satisfied with that, because red is what I had.

I have completed all the success conditions for the day except the last, which is "get self and household to wedding on time." I've also done a bunch of things not on the required list for today (but eventually necessary), and I've neglected a bunch more. I want to do everything on my writing list simultaneously. Must take deep breaths until the feeling passes. Or until I manage to finish everything. Whichever comes first.

I knew when you said "silver wrapping paper" how this story was going to end. Done that myself. I was actually so happy to come across a super post-Christmas sale of jumbo rolls of silver wrapping paper for a dollar each. Some of them even had patterns--silver with little bells, and silver with little bits of holly... Oh, so lovely! So much pretty silver! I stocked up. And when I got home and tried to wrap one rather late gift I discovered that it was cellophane. I had rolls and rolls of cellophane.

This is also when I remembered that super post-Christmas sales items are not returnable.

On the plus side, if you ever have a hankering to make a gift fruit basket, or a basket that has all those little packages of tea and cookies and a mug and whatnot inside, you're prepared.
