Curse you, Hallmark.
Sep. 10th, 2004 04:11 pmI bought what was supposed to be a roll of gold and a roll of silver wrapping paper, reasoning that they were dressy for wedding presents but not so weddingy I couldn't use them on other things in a pinch. I opened the roll of silver to wrap the antifreeze (it was 94c and it was on their list and it's not all we got them, all right?), and lo and behold, oh my oh my oh my, it was not silver paper. It was cellophane wrapped around a silver tube. This is cheating. And God only knows what I will do with a roll of cellophane. So the antifreeze got gold wrap and the baking dishes got red and they will have to be satisfied with that, because red is what I had.
I have completed all the success conditions for the day except the last, which is "get self and household to wedding on time." I've also done a bunch of things not on the required list for today (but eventually necessary), and I've neglected a bunch more. I want to do everything on my writing list simultaneously. Must take deep breaths until the feeling passes. Or until I manage to finish everything. Whichever comes first.

Date: 2004-09-10 04:35 pm (UTC)Get a gift bag. Take a piece of cellophane roughly twice as large as the bag. Get a piece of fun or pretty tissue paper. Place the cellophane on top of the tissue. Stuff into bag so the cellophane faces out (the printed tissue showing through. Place gift inside bag--wrapped or simply stuff more tissue down below or on top. Tie handles of bag closed with ribbon. Voila! Wrapped gift!
You can wrap a box the same way. Cellophane is *shiny* so it can be the shimmer on top of a printed piece of anything. Or a plain colored piece of tissue. It also makes good wrapping around wine or liquor bottles (layered with tissue if you want the liquid to be a surprise).
If you don't have any tissue on-hand and need to cover up the box, I don't think cellophane will do the job and therefore you are back to square one.
