My rhapsodic is all shiny because I've been waxing it so much.

What I didn't manage to say in the last post is that I am really, really happy with the wood now that we're getting it in there. We still have to put up trim, and we still have to get the stairs carpeted, so I'm not getting the full effect of what it'll be like downstairs when we're done. Still, we have all the wood at the base of the stairs in, and also significantly into the rooms adjacent, so when I open the basement door and flip on the light, I see the dusky blue walls and the warm glow of the hickory. And it's sort of like when you come up over a rise and can see the Minneapolis skyline at night, it's that kind of good. And it makes me very happy.

That's the thing I love about the wood, yes. Even my poor somewhat abused by previous tenants wood floors. They still glow.

(Also, there's the coming up over the rise and seeing the Minneapolis skyline at dawn, which I do a rather large amount of the time going to work. Different glow, but just as gorgeous.)

Well, the skylights of Minneapolis are mostly good, except for that one building, as you're driving north on 35W, that looks for all the world like a squat pagan idol, leering out over the city.

My friends and I don't know what it is by day, but by night, it's the Zuul Building.

We'll see what's going on when that happens. Mostly we'll want it to be private space rather than public space, but depending on timing and all that, there may be nickel tours for the select few. :)

We have now finished the floorboards (though not the trim) in the blue room, and it is just as good in full room form.

I am also pleased with how I can look at it and recognize individual boards I liked if I try but mostly just appreciate the whole.
