I have a new story up for free with Lightspeed, On the Acquisition of Phoenix Eggs (Variant). Go, read, enjoy. They also did an Author Spotlight.

(I have chosen my icon to match the author photo they used.)

I liked the worldbuilding and personalities in this quite a bit. Makes me wonder about nonvariant phoenix eggs, though.

That was delightful and with just a bit of a sting, too. I really like your first-person narrators. So many great turns of phrase.

I am still pondering "tragic crossroads accident," which sounds like either a stake through the heart or at the best Oedipus and Laius.

I think when your best option is Oedipus and Laius, that's not maybe a great sign.

I like this story much, and it is very different from the other story I liked very much.

You really do lovely fantasies of manners. They consistently do the things that I want out of steampunk, but rarely get.
