Three rejections. No acceptances. Perspective increasingly difficult to maintain. I waffle between thinking I should write more short stories when I've handed off Thermionic Night to alpha readers (so I have more different stuff to send out) and thinking I should never write short stories again ever ever ever (because they suck and nobody wants them and I'm increasingly cranky about the very concept) and I just want to write something fun again. Someday. Something that kind of flows and sings and is not this--this--this book. (<--insert tones of disgust here)

I have the feeling that the writing and the marketing of the writing are not actually the problem, that the problem is a million and one other things going on all at once. But the writing and the marketing of the writing are certainly not helping right now. I'm thinking of going and living in a cave. A cave with central heating and internet connectivity and regular access to the people I want to see and also deliveries from Byerly's. Hmm. Perhaps I am not cut out for this anchoress business after all and should just shut up and write my books.

I've got "finish notecards" on my list for this week. We'll see if coming out of revisions (at least for a bit, until my alpha readers tell me what hideous things I did to mangle my poor book) helps.

[livejournal.com profile] markgritter and I have tickets to "The Gondoliers" tonight, and we're eating at Kieran's first (chaaaaaammmmmmmmmp! and Guinness gravy!), and tomorrow we get to see [livejournal.com profile] porphyrin and Mike and Roo. And can an auntie maintain a funk in the face of the Roo? Well, maybe; but I don't intend to.

You have a good ear for that sort of thing: it was a nice night.

I don't think so. Not all after seing "The Gondoliers" and eating at Kieran's. No not at all.

Did I mention Flylady (http://www.flylady.net) at Tea? It's all flowery and stuff, but for me, it works and keeps me sane. It does come with a lot of e-mail, but most can be deleted after scanning the subject.

Actually, my house is almost alarmingly un-cluttered, in the bits I have any control over. They're about to revoke my SF fan card over it.
