My crow story is out today in Beneath Ceaseless Skies! The Crow's Second Tale is what happens when you mull over crow-related song and story a bit too long, or maybe just long enough. This is so great, I love this SO VERY MUCH. I love the crows' only lingering for the length of an elevator pitch and I love the quiet snarky irony here and there and the meta about fiction and I love the darkening as the story goes on and then where the light is.

I really enjoyed how the intuitive child logic is in fact the way the world works here, & the implication that the whole story happens because there was never a moment where she had to spell out her personal superstition & have someone say, "but it's just a song." <3

Okay, I'll bite: which song? My brain stopped on "The Twa Corbies" and refused to look further even though that is not correct.

It turns out that even most of the people who know that song don't focus on that line! I'm the only one I know who has been going around frantically telling stories to crows for 30+ years just in case.
