I was awakened this morning by a frantic alarm goose. I mean the bird, not the grope. It seems to be in distress in the woods behind our house or possibly behind the neighbors' house. It's still going: "honk...honk..........honk honk...."

I hate geese.

If one is goosed by more than one person, has one been geesed?

And I'm sorry for the unpleasant wake-up.

Awww. That sucks.

We have two ducks in our yard this morning. As Bri calls them...A Mama duck and a Daddy duck. They may very well be, as they were both standing guard over the big pine tree in front of the house. It would be cool to have baby duckies born in our yard. =P Primarily cause the front of the house has no bedrooms. *giggle*

Ducks are much better than geese. Quieter, less vicious. If you have ducklings, you'll likely have them soon.

We have attack geese on campus right now. They are on every lawn, make their way ever-so-slowly across the roads, and if you dare to approach they honk and hiss and chase after you. The university has now felt the need to issue "beware of geese" warnings.

You are not alone in your geese-hating.

Haaaaaaate!

Also they leave goose turds wherever they go, which are slippery and nasty. So far I have seen none in the yard.

I bought a blanket that has nylon on one side (fleece on the other) specifically to put it down at our regattas in Sacramento. There are geese (and consequently droppings) *everywhere* in that park.

Oh yes, nasty is a good word for those particular ... leavings. Especially when there's a flock's worth spread over the grass. Good luck on keeping your alarm-goose out of the yard.

Is it quiet yet?

Yes. I think the wretched thing either found its buddies or died.

Ah, alarm geese. Used to wake up to those every so often in New Hampshire.

I get alarm car alarms these days, assuming that's not a contradiction in terms.

I don't think it is. At best it would be redundant, but I don't think it's that, either.

We used to get them in California. I wasn't keen on them, either.

Yah, we have alarm car alarms (or at least I used to), and I just moved away from alarm neighbors. And now (this will become apparent once you read the e-mail I just sent you) I have an alarm cat.

And, you know, an alarm clock.

But yes, geese are mean and viscious animals.

I think I am in the minority on the friendslist for not having an alarm cat.

I have an alarm tot, which is so much nicer than either an alarm goose or an alarm cat.

I should think so!

A couple times we've joked about letting Robin wake up Unca [livejournal.com profile] timprov, that it would be an extremely pleasant thing if you were almost awake anyway.

But if I wasn't, he could fly a significant distance. Bad idea.

That's why it's stayed a joke, yah.
