I have been to clinic PT this afternoon, possibly for the last time.

This does not mean I'm done with PT. It doesn't even mean that I'm done with PT soon. But what we've done is to settle on a fairly sturdy set of PT exercises that incorporate several important facets of vestibular rehab including self-check, and we've figured out sort of a timeline for when to try going to doing them less often, by how much less often, what to do if that doesn't immediately go well, etc.

I can still call for an appointment with the physical therapists if things go off the rails here. But by now I have an idea of what's a predictable/explicable setback and what's an unpredictable/inexplicable one, and we're moving into several months of taper mode.

(Alas for certain members of this household, this is not the same thing as several months of tapir mode.)

I think this is a good thing. I think this is the right thing. And oh, do I think it's progress. I still have a bunch to go with this. But I think we have verified that that light is not, in fact, the train.

(This is your cue to cheer.)

(If you need further incentive to cheer, Grandpa is doing better today than yesterday, better yesterday than Monday, better Monday than Sunday. This is the first time since he's been in the hospital that we've had a string of days like that. It barely even needs saying that this is A Very Good Thing.)
