Which of you was talking about Nightwish/Oceanborn such that I put it on my Amazon wishlist? *squints suspiciously eastward*

Also, this is why I'm going to sleep now:

Me: [little hand gesture]
[livejournal.com profile] timprov: Was that supposed to be a tyrannosaur putting?
Me: Slapshot! A tyrannosaur making a slapshot!
T: Well, you can see where I would get confused.

I suspected as much. I said so to [livejournal.com profile] dd_b: "It was very strange. I blame Alec. Because blaming Alec is not a bad default option when things are strange." (Actually for more specific reasons than that, the style of instrumentation plus the melodic singing made me think you had posted something relevant recently.)

Anyway, about 10% of my brain was doing that "never heard anything like this" breaking thing, maybe 1-2% was trying to catch lyrics ("What did she say about virginity?"), and the rest...had to be thoroughly stifled from working on Midnight Sun Rising. So I guess I know what I need when it's actually time to write MSR.

I did a generalized metal post fairly recently, but I think the last post I made that was specifically about Nightwish was over half a year ago.

They've recently kicked out their female vocalist/frontwoman, which makes me sad, since her voice was one of their greatest strengths.

Yah, this was something I added to my Amazon list some time ago, or I'd have remembered the reason why.

[livejournal.com profile] timprov's comment when the vocalist started singing was, "I didn't know [livejournal.com profile] coffeeem was in a Finnish band!" This seems pretty accurate to me, having listened to about an album and a half of Flash Girls.

Speaking of books, have you read Covenants by Lorna Freeman? If not, I highly suggest it and the sequel which just came out The King's Own.

I have not. I will look into it.

I suspect your hand guesture lacked the correct degree of follow-through that would make a slap-shot instantly distinguishable from putting. :)

Foolish M'ris, everyone knows that tyrannosaurs used their big, strong tails to make slap-shots. (The forelimbs were for feebly trying to pull opponents' shirts over their heads during fights).
