I finished writing a book this morning, but it's not what you think. It's a picture book text called Space Moose. I've been poking at this little story for years now, about a moose astronaut who eats bananas and peanut butter, but it just fell together this morning. I'm a little shaky on it still -- not sure if it goes how it's supposed to go -- but I felt like doing something gentle this morning, and nothing on the front burner right now is very gentle. Maybe I will be ready to go back to the smiting now. There is much smiting to be done.

Bananas rarely eat moose.

My experience with something called Space Moose is a foul-mouthed daily comic at the University of Alberta that some friends of mine love.

I was momentarily disarmed whenn reading this entry.

Yeah, I recall seeing Space Moose. Might be problematic. He even has a wikipedia entry.

And now I know what the Moose Book is, as opposed to the Not The Moose Book!

Do you have someone to illustrate your text? Gilliad told me ages ago he wanted to do illustrations for a children's book, but I put him off . . .

I'm told that's a really bad way to try to sell your first children's book from either perspective. If Gilliad is serious about doing illos, he should get a portfolio together and send it to markets from Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Markets. (I think the apostrophes are in the wrong place, but that's what it calls itself.)
