On my to-do list, along with "wrap Amber presents" and "bank" and "make banana bread" and "mend green coat" and "draft dinosaur story," is "sort dragons."

I love my life.

Any fun items on your lists this Monday? Or is it all mending and banking?

Heh - I'm making banana bread too. I'm going to add dried cranberries this time instead of raisins.

Rather sort dragons, though.

Oh my. My banana bread (http://www.marissalingen.com/gmabread.html) doesn't usually have dried anything in it, and I'm having a hard time figuring how it would taste. (It's my grandma's recipe.)

I'm going to make banana bread (or rather plantain bread) as soon as the plantain in the kitchen is ripe enough (i.e. completely black).

Items on my list for tomorrow, as I'm not doing any more todos today: "pick up free linguistics books" and "feed sourdough".

Oh yum! Thanks! I'll add the cranberries and some sliced almonds and see what we get. :D

So far today it's all been banking. I had to go tell the bank that I've mislaid my ATM card. "Do you have any idea where?" the guy said, and I said "Yes, probably in my house somewhere." Then just looked at him, pretending not to be embarrassed about what that says about the state of said house.

But tonight, my Rhy is coming over to show off her new engagement ring (emeralds, mmmm) and eat chips and salsa and see the many-many flowers in my yard. So there is something to look forward to.

Mmmm, chips and salsa.

I was thinking of making a lasagna or something tonight, but maybe I will make pathetic faces and see if it gets me chips and salsa.

"Draw porn."

Well, ok, no more explicit than an R rating, but I've hit the love scene in the project that [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija and I are doing, and I finished the first-kiss page last night.

Quel coincidence! I'm stuffing thirty bags with small jars of organic herbs.

Did you get your dragons sorted?

My late morning looked like this:

1. Start vacuuming house.

2. Look out window, devote nanosecond to heartattackfreakout.

3. Separate mare from stallion. Determine whether inevitable happened. (He missed, she's 'way taller than he is.) (It would not be a disaster if he hadn't. However.)

4. Sort remaining highly excited female equines and return to proper storage space.

5. Repair two gates he jiggered and she shredded.

6. Get heart rate back to normal.

7. Finish vaccuming house.

Not exactly sorting dragons, but for fire-breathing leapage, snortage, and overall excitement, it's not too far off.

*giggle* Oh, my. Not a routine occurrence in my mornings (and we're quite all right with that, yes we are.) :)

It's all editing and banking so far, I'm afraid.

However, there has been chai tea to drink and fresh pineapple to eat, and there's a brand new pineapple to cut up.

I'm contemplating making meringue cookies, if I can figure out what to do with the four leftover egg yolks. Usually it's the other way around -- I make meringue cookies because I have spare yolks from some other recipe. But I've fallen into the habit of having a little something at mid-morning and mid-afternoon, and meringues (made with erythritol rather than regular sugar) make a nice low-calorie little something, even if I toss in a few chocolate chips.

My to-do list includes; get taxes done (eep! last minute anyone?) 'sort pirate ships' (damn wizkids and their addictive games!) and buy velveta for salsa. (I used a block of chedar, and the salsa con queso seems fond of seperating into its component foods while in the fridge. Hopefully some cheese-like product will correct this.)

On tomorrow's list, assuming we don't get more rain; explore beneath porch.

This is, in fact, one of the main reasons I have heard for why people use cheese-like product instead of cheese.

I'm still not convinced it's a good one, but.

* Watch clock.
* Do sudoku.
* Watch clock some more.
* Brush teeth.
* Leave work.
* Get facial (hence the certitude of dentifrice) and pedicure with [livejournal.com profile] rosemom (we are very rarely girly together, so this is a big treat), followed by backgammon or possibly Boggle and most likely a sampling of wedding cake tests.
* While out in the world, look for thank-you gifts for the friends of honor and the officiant.
* On train, write review for Strange Horizons.
* Once home, finish the review, finish packing wedding favors, do taxes online, call car service to arrange pickup for [livejournal.com profile] sinboy's great-aunt, what else is on the to-do list? Maybe start packing for the honeymoon.
* Oh, and wash fishes dishes.
* And the shoes that the cat peed on, damn her rotten hairy hide.
* And give the other cat his medication, poor thing.

All in all, not too bad. *)

You people make my "to do" list look positively boring. The most exotic thing on my list is "Call Elmer."

I haven't yet decided what to call him.

From: [identity profile] mrissa.livejournal.com
May I suggest "Elmer"?

What, and make my list even more boring?!?

My day included "Go to CIA and attend friend's retirement ceremony."

Not every day you get to say that. Not every day you get to go into that building. It was very cool.

We went to the CIA. I had a really great avocado-crab-grapefruit salad. Ohhhh, now I want that again.

That's Culinary Institute of Art; is that not what you meant?

From: [identity profile] writingortyping.livejournal.com
Actually, no - the Central Intelligence Agency. Hawaiian Punch and cookies at the ceremony itself, which doesn't compare to avocado-crab-grapefruit salad (though we did have good hors d'oeuvres at their house afterwards).

However, I'm pretty sure the Culinary Institute doesn't have an Enigma machine or microdot cameras in pretty glass boxes in the hallways.

Date: 2006-04-04 01:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mrissa.livejournal.com
Ah well. A good Enigma machine is not to be neglected, to be sure.

When you get your dragons all sorted, will that be better than having your ducks in a row?

Date: 2006-04-04 12:11 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mrissa.livejournal.com
Immensely better, yes.

My Monday list was boring. It was filled with things like "go to the doctor". My Wednesday list hopefully includes "Take Spud to the park".
