I know I just posted, and I will read the comments to that and other entries and comments, and I will read my friendspage.

But not today, and not tomorrow, and possibly not the next day.

[livejournal.com profile] timprov just checked me for concussion or other pupil oddness. I put this on a filtered post before, but I'm saying it now: I fell again yesterday, and now I'm having blue sparklies in my field of vision.

I am feeling pretty deeply crappy in a hard-to-define way. I am feeling weirdly weak, and I am feeling very inappropriately tired again, and I am slightly dizzy all the time.

I think it's a good idea for me to narrow the scope of my planned activities for a couple of days, and lj is not making the cut right now.

E-mail is a decent way to reach me, but I have no idea how much upright computer time I will have, and how much of it I will choose to spend e-mailing is anybody's guess.

We are going to have dinner soon, so if you're one of the people who might want to call, please don't freak out if you don't get us.

Please don't freak out in general. I'll be fine, and if I'm not, we'll let you know.

*hugs* Looks like I'm not on that filter. If that's the place you're updating on your health issues, and if you'd like to add me, I would be interested to know how you are doing going forward. I had been assuming lack of updates meant everything was okay. Sorry it's not. (for whenever you get back to LJ to read this)

Got it. While this is not a filter for which I'm taking requests, I thought I'd already put you on it, and will address that situation.

Honey, blue sparklies? Like flashes of light? Please get into an ophthalmologist right away if so. That can indicate a problem with your retina that can lead to retinal detacment.

I hope you feel better soon. *hugs*

*sigh* Detachment, even.

Especially if you're seeing flashes of light at the edges of your vision when you move your eyes from side to side.

Here's hoping that's not what you meant by blue sparklies. But if it is, there is no time to lose - call opthamologist pronto. (Having history of detached retina on both sides of my family makes me hyper-aware of the symptoms.)

Moving my eyes does not affect them. Sometimes moving my head does, but as I said to Deanna, they're very strongly correlated with the dizziness/vertigo: when I'm feeling less dizzy, they're not there.

Also as I said to Deanna, though, I'm not taking chances that it "must" be nothing eye-related; I will be seeing an opthamologist.

I am going to see an opthamologist just in case. Please do not worry that the following comment means I am brushing off this excellent advice; I will not take chances.

However, these blue sparklies correlate a lot with dizziness/vertigo and sometimes with fainting. I've gotten them periodically over my life and have seen eye doctors regularly during that time. It has never previously been an eye problem so much as a symptom of the dizziness/vertigo.

As I said above, though, I am not taking chances that it will continue that way.

I know you'll be taking care of yourself as much as possible, and that's what matters. Letting us know how you're doing? Much lower priority.

In piloting terms, "aviate, navigate, communicate". First, keep the shiny side up. Once that's under control, figure out where you are. After that start worrying about talking to the ground. LJ isn't even talking to the ground...it's more like asking the flight attendants for an extra dessert from the galley or something.

This is not to imply that I won't be sending good wishes, because I am.

I can think of several minor things it could be, that are either fixable or of short duration. I will be hoping hard that it turns out to be one of them.

Having partners who will check you for ophthalmic and other weirdness is good.

Sometimes it's a good idea for them to take you to the doctor.

Take care of yourself; we'll be here when you've dealt with that and have time again, and thanks for letting us know what's up.

When I had concussion my entire f-list bullied me into going to the doctor, so taking an LJ break is probably sensible if you don't want to go to the doctor.

Anyway, I felt weak and low energy for about a month after, even after having some acupuncture. So don't expect to recover instantly.

I really don't think I have a concussion. Not only do I not recall hitting my head when I fell, I don't seem to be missing any time in which I could have done so. But I will talk to the doctor this morning, and she will tell me there's nothing they can do what she thinks.
