mrissa: (frustrated)

My parents are in Albuquerque. (Long story.) My parents have a new living room rug. (Short but boring story.) Ista and I went down to make sure their house had not burned down and so on, and she was most upset to find that her grandmonkeys were not there. She ran around in some distress. She cried. Apparently her stomach churned.

But did she puke on the new rug? She did not. She waited until we were in the car and puked on me. Neatly missing the seat of the car, even.

Such a considerate pup.

I actually mean that somewhat seriously: it was much easier to just shuck my clothes and put on different clothes than it would have been to clean the rug or the upholstery. But still: sigh. The joys of dog ownership. At least two of you are prone to reminding me, "You're the one who wanted a dog," and indeed and in fact I am. But I'd worn those jeans for less than four hours, and now they're dirty. Ah well; we have the technology to fix this problem.

Poor little bop! She is indeed very considerate and also she loves you very much: to come to you when she was pukey! That is saying something.

She is a very lovey girl. Sometimes this is expressed in ways humans don't prefer, but she's still very sweet.

ooh yes

mine do similar things. The best I can figure is they hav me as pack momma, an safe help comfort etc. OK space. Very not fun.. I'd not really say that other bit but I am prtty conscious of all the other dog things an happy for those.

(And this is very OT but about the only time I wished esper were a true thing was in trying to grok pups.)

Sometimes Ista thinks she has ESP. She will stare at me and stare at me, and I am supposed to know what she means.

Sometimes I even do.

I'm totally sympathetic. Our new pup (well, he's not so new he's been with us for 6 months now) managed a similar stunt. When we were staying with the inlaws, my wife's sister (who ADORES dogs) would ask to keep the pup in with her. Well she got him to stay up and sleep on the bed with her, and he would fall asleep on her chest. I was impressed because usually, if he'll even sit still on the bed long enough to fall asleep at home, he'll usually do it at the foot of the bed, away from us, even to the extent that if I moved him up near us after he'd fallen asleep, he'd wake up, and walk back down the bed.

So, after a few days of spending time with Auntie, well, he woke up at about 4AM, and puked on her covers.

My reaction? Well, you were the one that wanted him to spend the night in your room instead of with us in his crate. :)

Exactly! Not your fault! Not even the dog's fault!

oh, sweet puppy.

the other day pirate was all burpy and having tummy trouble and was sad, so she went to where she felt all safe and happy. my bed. fortunately for me since i didn't want to change the sheets, she just burped for a while instead of throwing up there.

So gross but *so* much easier to clean than carpets or upholstry. I personally would hope to train them towards a throwing-up-outside policy, but hey, it's better than plenty of places.

And, until I went to college, it never occured to me that one could wear clothing and have them still be clean enough to wear again before washing. This is largely due to the fact that in my family, with my two brothers, that wasn't actually the case. (I personally wasn't nearly that dirty (most of the time) but like I said, it never occured to me that the boys' clothes needed washing because they were actually *dirty*, vs because they'd been worn.)

She was not going to be put outside any time soon.

I had the same college jeans revelation. Jeans are the thing I re-wear, and before college I didn't, because it was awfully convenient to toss them in the laundry. Then lo and behold! it was kind of a pain. And lo and behold! they were not mostly dirty after one wearing, actually. Amazing.
