I have mentioned before that I have an eight-track mind, yes? That my brain is generally humming away at several things at once? Well, this morning, two of the tracks are playing Synopsis Mad Libs with each other to pass the time. "In a world gone TANGY, one GROTTO can make a difference in the fight against JANSENISM," that sort of thing. If I think about it consciously, it stops, so that's something, at least. I won't have to go through the day with, "A PHLEBOTOMIST from an ANARCHO-SYNDICALIST COMMUNE must BACKSTROKE against the FROGS," running through my head indefinitely. But nonetheless, here we are.
Brains. Tricksy things.
Brains. Tricksy things.

"A SEXTON from a TUTTI-FRUTTI TAQUERIA must GLUESTICK against the NEMATODES."
Oh, saints. *hunts for the stereo switch for own brain*

Date: 2006-12-01 04:41 am (UTC)When I was 11, one of my friends was over, and we decided we wanted to listen to Rachmaninoff, and my folks only had that on 8-track. So we put it in. We had never been introduced to the concept of continuous play from an 8-track, so...we knew that themes recurred in concerti, and that we should expect to hear similar bits repeating, but it seemed like really similar bits, repeating with an odd regularity....
Eventually my mom came into the room and demanded, "How many times are you going to listen to those three pieces, anyway?" She was much amused to hear the explanation. Almost as amused as she was when I was reading the Travis McGee books this summer and turned to her in all seriousness to ask if she knew that you used to have to open cans of beer with a can opener.
Have you seen ...
