I think there ought to be a natural law about how it can't rain on Winter Solstice. I don't believe in omens, but really. I'm not just saying this because I have to walk the dog today, either: it's just not right. I am hoping that things will dry up for awhile this afternoon, but I'm not putting a great deal of faith in it. Probably the wee beast and I will have a very damp tramp and then the last of the really good hot cocoa (me) and a scruff on my comforter (her).

Anyway, happy Solstice all around. More light to you and yours. Me, I'm working on "Carter Hall Lights the Lamp" today, which seems like a thing. Possibly even a good thing.

No, that doesn't seem right. And you know how very much I dislike the snow and cold, but even I would like some pretty white snow right around now. Just a little, you know? Just a dusting. (Even though I do still have to go get the snow tires put on my car.)

We have overcast skies and above-freezing temperatures. I was singing as I walked down the street at lunch: "It's beginning to look a lot like early November ..."

I've been saying, "I know October is my favorite month, and I know this particular October kind of sucked, but this doesn't count as a do-over!"

Is this better? Right now (nearly 2pm) slushy snow is falling and sticking. I hear the sound of snow plows. I'll wear boots to go a-wandering.

We're gonna have rain on Christmas. Imagine that.

=v= Rained in S.F. today, too. Nonetheless, the Pagans had left behind evidence of their revelry:
