I think I have declared it officially Christmas here. We've been seeing friends and family from out of town. (I'm never sure how much to say publicly about people who haven't posted information about their plans publicly. Suffice it to say that I have turned yet another person on to the joy that is pepparkakor.) I am trying not to go too insane on the subject of finding a box to wrap my great-aunt's skillet. She can just be unsurprised by the shape of it. And being as how it's my great-aunt and she's thrilled to be included at all, she will probably giggle if I suggest it's a pony when she goes to open it. I'm pretty good at hitting my old folks' sense of humor these days.

Last night when I went to bed it felt like I had time to do -- if not everything I might think of, because it's me here -- certainly a large number of things. Now...somewhat fewer things look like they're going to fit. I don't know how much time I'll have to read and post over the next few days. Some time, but not as much as usual. Hope you're all having a good Christmas, or else a good weekend of whatever other flavor you like.

!Feliz Navidad!

Have much fun!

Funny, ponies came up last night too. I hadn't realized how crucial to presents ponies are.

Sending you some fishes of encouragement for later. :>

In some families, puppies serve in the place of ponies, but we already have a puppy, so whenever someone guesses, "It's a puppy!", we can point and say, "No, that's a puppy."

What I love about a local practitioner of Chinese medicine and acupuncture is hearing from him:

"And the food you eat should be spiced ..." he then thoughts about how depressing and nauseating this suggestion may sound to a person with traditional Estonian eating habits and ads, to make his advice more acceptable: " ... at the moment this should not be a problem - you should just eat more pepparkakor."

See, I have been prescribed pepparkakor by a real doctor (as that practitioner not only has a traditional medical education also, he comes from at least three generations of doctors from both sides of his family).

Didn't it come in a box? The one we bought did.

It did not. If it had, the problem would have solved itself.

Yay, ponies!

I got my brother-in-law a box of nails for a present. Because, see, it seems silly to just wrap up a Home Depot gift card by itself. And the box of nails is almost exactly the same size as the box of Legos (a police motorcycle; he's a police officer) we got for him, and makes nearly the same sound when rattled.

Merry Christmas!

Pepparkakor is YUMMY!

Other people mention me in their public posts so I don't see it as a problem if you ever feel like doing so.

Dinner was lovely, as was the puppy! and the company.
