[insert standard writing-career-related doubts, fears, etc. here]

There, that was much more pleasant than having to sit through the whole thing, wasn't it? That's the thing about doing this for awhile: it's not that you get more confidence from the short stories published and the good readings and all that stuff. It's that you get thoroughly bored with expressing the down bits. Blah blah never going to blah nobody likes my blah this story is such a blah blah blah. Yawn. Back to work. I mean, you can go through the whole dramatic cycle, but when you're done the dog still needs walking, the floor still needs mopping, and the characters still need developing, so better just to get on with it, eh?

Myself? I like a good wallow every now and then.

Oh yay! Does that mean if I'm already thoroughly bored with hearing myself whine about writers angst, that I'm progressing along nicely?

Sure! Being bored of your own navel and just writing is a survival skill, at the very least.
