Hey! It's my birthday! I'm 29! Happy my birthday!

[livejournal.com profile] the_red_shoes wants me to be happy on my birthday, so she linked to all the Pete Seeger videos on YouTube. Eeeeee. I am listening to them with bouncy glee while I finish my birthday scone. One of them got me all sniffly and excited, because it's Pete and his grandson singing "Well May the World Go," and oh wow oh wow, especially when you hit the choruses, Pete's grandson has his voice and his exuberance. And an obvious love of his grandfather and his grandfather's music. And a band. Whose albums I must now own.

Also, we should all age so well as Pete Seeger, fierce and energetic.

Later I will open presents, take a dip in the hot tub, work on the book because I want to, have a good lunch but I don't know what yet, read something good, have dinner at Rice Paper and ice cream at Sebastian Joe's with two of the people I was with 29 years ago today (plus [livejournal.com profile] markgritter). I might bake something. I might not. Depends on what I feel like doing, because it's my birthday.

What are you making today? Stories, lunch, earrings, amends, programs, a living, a better life, connections, a garden, a bit of room to relax?

I'm beginning work on a new crochet project -- a tote to haul craft stuff in, so I'll get more crafting done! I achieved this initiative by organizing a weekly crafty lunch bunch at work, which starts today.

Apparently, I'm better at initiating others to initiate me, than I am at initiating myself. Hmm.

Introspect aside, happy birthday!

A tote to haul craft stuff in. What an enabling sort of a thing to make! I'm amused. I hope it goes well.

Happy Birthday.

And, yes, I'm all over the whole Pete Seeger thing, but you're still too young to sing "Get up and go."

Happy your birthday!

I am making a living. I am also, indirectly, making any number of people a lot happier by fixing things which were, pre-fix, Misery Augmentors, so that's a pretty good way to make a living.

I think this is important to keep in mind when people feel like their jobs are "just pushing bits around" or "just making appointments for someone else" or whatever: sometimes pushing bits around in a good way or making appointments competently or whatever makes the world run more smoothly for dozens or hundreds or even thousands of other people, if you count indirect influence.

This article (http://www.peteseeger.net/new_yorker041706.htm) is pretty awesome. peteseeger.net (http://www.peteseeger.net/) in generally happy making.

Did you listen to and like "The Seeger Sessions?" by Springsteen?

And, randomly, Seeger and other such luminaries were all friends of my mom's family. Western Mass. commies. :)

Not leaving the house if you don't feel like it is a very good way to celebrate my birthday!

So is running around outside the house doing all sorts of things!

My birthday is very flexible that way.

Also: 29 is great. i'm almost done with it, but it's been one of the best so far, if not THE best.

Happiest ever birthday to my one and only M'Risiness! (Conveniently for my mother, you are the ONLY value for $mris in my life.... English IS, after all, her second language, and sometimes she's not aware that there ARE $ values for my friends... Just some of their personalities, and not always the good ones.)

Anyhoot, I shall try as ever (with a 1 in 10 success rate so far?) to get and MAIL you a post card from Pennsic, for which I shall be leaving THIS VERY AFTERNOON! (That is, if I survive jamming all my stuff into a car and driving cross country with my Friediness and all my worldly possessions of significant value strapped precariously to the top of the Durango - all while praying like mad that it doesn't rain... too much... before we can get the pavillions set up...) Please god, don't let anything else go wrong. I keep thinking that Murphy has covered everything, but then he keeps coming up with something I hadn't thought of yet...

Hee. After all this time, it wouldn't be my birthday without some kind of Pennsic related mail, either on or after!

Happy your birthday, indeed!

I am making this bit of somebody else's code work on the Computers in the Room Full of Very Much Computer rather than on the Small Computers Sitting in the Laboratory, so that we can do things like compare it to the entire human genome.

(I am also making myself try not to fall asleep at my desk, but that is somewhat less interesting.)
