We're here. Train travel is awesome. Montreal is lovely so far. I am in an expansive good mood and have had some vertigo today but not enough to dampen the good mood.

Dinner! Onwards!

Welcome! Of course, the weather has decided to go all early August on you while you're here. It was blessedly cooler and not humid for ages, till today. Are you here for the Farthing shindig?

(And as you wonder who the heck I am, anyway: Hi, I friended you yesterday because I figured it was about time I did, since I've been reading your posts via [livejournal.com profile] matociquala for ages.)

Hi and welcome to my lj; thanks for your welcome to your city!

And yes, I'm here for the Farthing party! I packed some sleeveless stuff for the next few days, so that ought to be livable. One hopes.

Clever of you. Montreal's always unpredictable weather-wise. This is why we advise people to pack layers. :)

I, alas, will not be at the Farthing party. Looks like plenty of other awesome folks will be in attendance, though. Enjoy it!

We're going to Montreal later this year, so you'll have to post about everything you do....just so we know. ;o)

I love Montreal and was there August last year. I don't know if you like steakhouses, but Queue de Cheval (It means the "horse's tail," not "line up for horsemeat," which I first thought) was excellent (and the white chocolate cheesecake dessert was excellent).

Where did you train from? From NYC, it's an 8-hr. drive, but a longer train trip, so as much as I like train travel, I've never done that trip.

From Toronto. About five hours, and they're such pleasant hours.

I think you'll like Montreal, Marissa. Lovely multi=cultural city, very good restaurants (not to mention food in general), and very old and historic in its own way. I lived in Montreal from the time I was 6 years old until I went off to Ottawa. (Where I currently live.)

Enjoy the trip, and see some of the historic sites while you're there. :)

I'm not sure what sightseeing we'll do this time around. There will be some today, I think, assuming the vertigo doesn't return with a great big mean vengeance. Tomorrow and Sunday will be all sociable (and this is a good thing), but I don't know beyond that, what the proportions will be.

If I don't see enough historic Stuff, the solution will just have to be that I come back at some point. Oh wailie woe.
