You know you really, truly love your godson when you dream of writing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fanfic novel just because it would make him happy.

That's "dream" in the "involuntary nighttime brain activity" sense, not in the "rose-colored girlish dreams" sense.

Not even for the beloved godson

You do not have to decide which novel to write next.

How old is your godson, out of curiosity?

REALLY BIG.

Err. I mean, five.

Please tell me the fanfic wasn't slash. Please.

Indeed it was not.

Aw! Now that would totally go beyond any notion of selfless godmothering. (...um...assuming he even likes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (Does he?) ) It would never occur to me, not in a million years, to write even the shortest bit of Disney Princess fanfic for Little Miss Hatbox--mostly because if she liked it, I'd have to cough up more on demand for years to come. But I'm still seconding Careswen's comment.

Just curious now: Do you have recurring characters about whom you make up stories for Robin? For years I have been telling LMH about the adventures of The Three LMH's (all sisters, with the same first name but different middle names). This started when she was two, and was lots of fun. Now she is seven, and these days the plots always have to center around the trio's adventures at the amusement park owned by a major alternate-universe entertainment franchise. Apparently their dad works for the company (she insists on this every time), so they get free run of the park (ditto) and ridiculously elaborate birthday parties involving treasure hunts at Cinderella's castle. (my idea, once, and I'm sorry I ever brought it up.)

Frankly, I'm kinda bored with having them go to Duckyland and meet Captain Ducky every single dang time. I would love to just have Captain Ducky or Captain Piggy give them five dollars, and go back to telling stories about after-school adventures in the backyard.

He does indeed like the Ninja Turtles, and I am a devoted enough godmother that I took him to the recent movie about same.

I haven't got a bunch of recurring characters for Robin's stories, in part because I just don't see him often enough. We play games, and I read him books, but so far no stories, much less ones with Duckyland. (Whew.)

And I'd like a pony!

Well, not really. It's just what I say when people propose such things.

I'm pretty sure I'll write Robin a story at some point. But it will not have to do with the TMNT.

(I pause here to make sure a plot that impinges briefly on the TMNT doesn't pop into my head. It has not. Good.)

What might make him really happy is to dictate a TMNT story to you to write down and then for Roo to draw the pictures for it.

Not that I've ever done such a thing for a small boy who lived for Ninja Turtles, or spent days making a Donatello costume for Halloween, nor do I still know the theme song by heart.

And that was never, ever me running around the backyard acting out X-men cartoons and pretending to be Rogue. Don't let anyone tell you differently. ;)

Oh...don't forget, you don't have to decide which novel to write next right now.

We may give that a try next time we have the chance. That sounds like a winner.

Nico's godparent NEVER writes him fanfic.

Just nationally syndicated articles and stuff.

Slacker.

When informed, a certain author's godson blinked, and then said in dismayed tones,

"Well, *I* just dreamed-ed that *I* wrote a WHOLE BOOK about Flasher for Mrissa. I must love her the MOST."

(Flasher, in this case, being The Flash. Not, you know...)

Agreed!

(AWWW!)

But I bet he'd like goblins and hockey sticks in a story. ;D And Adeline's story... Ohhhh. I just realized what a great t-shirt Adeline's final picture would make!

Ahem. I will stop now.
