Decadence

I am the most decadent holiday person ever. I am drinking a cup of the Really Good Hot Chocolate, the stuff that's dark and lovely and sounds like rain when you pour the cocoa into the milk, and I am working on a book that is not the book I'm working on. And is not, in all likelihood, the book I will write next. But it's the book that's been poking out of my brain all week.

Bad brain. No biscuit.

But I have lefse and pie, so what do I need with biscuits? Onwards, bad brain! Onwards!

Is that userpic meant to convey "decadent" ? What it looks like to me is "You're still looking at me while the hawk that just took off from my wrist is circling around to get you in the back of the head."

The key word for that picture is "mrischief."

...where could one obtain some of this cocoa?

Alas, nowhere. They stopped making it. My mom found one last tin in a seasonal items clearance bin in Byerly's last Christmas. I wrote to the company pleading with them to make more and have gotten no response.

But the good news is, you don't *have* to decide which novel to write next. ;)

I was decadence today too... I spent all day alternating between 2 things I have come to enjoy: puttering in the kitchen making yummy food, and playing with string.

So I put the turkey in the oven for 4 hours this morning, and spun a spool of yarn while I waited.... All was happiness and contentment.

Also, rather than the *good* hot chocolate, I am having the *good* Irish Coffee. ;-)

We had a fine turkey, and managed not to make forgetting about the cranberry relish a tradition, [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle having remembered it as we started to eat this year. And there was chocolate mousse. And two of my beloveds to share it with me.

This may not be decadent, but it is excellent.

I thought chocolate mousse was supposed to be decadent!

You are right that the mousse is decadent (though simpler to make than most such); cranberry relish, and being with [livejournal.com profile] cattitude and [livejournal.com profile] adrian_turtle, are not.

I was once temporarily a Minnesotan, and I miss it. I started reading your blog for wit and writing wisdom (and occasionally, alliteration), but I also love your mentions of almost-home, like lefse.

Mmm, lefse.

Well, thanks! December will be your month, then, because I am Minnesota/Scando Heritage Girl for the entire month of December.

Unlike, y'know, any other day....
