mrissa: (winter)

The sun is coming back, but instead I woke up to snowlight. What a very good morning. Even cleaning bathrooms can't bring that kind of morning down. The snowflakes are huge and fluffy and sticky, and the little sand cherry we planted in the front is already showing that it will make a very good winter tree with the snow on its red bark. And the birches and oaks and poplars in the back are just as pleasing all tangled together in the snow.

Every online store I have ever shopped with is sending me e-mail reminders that today is the VERY LAST DAY they can ship things to me for Christmas. Luckily -- or rather, skillfully -- I am already done with my Christmas shopping. Some things are still supposed to be on their way, and I strongly suspect that one of those things will not arrive by noon today, when it is supposed to be united with its person. But he is a grown-up and will understand if we have to send it on to him when it does come.

My tasks for the day are not onerous. In fact, I seem to be short on onerous over the next few weeks. This is probably just as well. I will still be working on the book when I can, but ideally that will behave itself, and in the rest of my life, I think we're to the part of holidays where the work of the rest of December becomes the cookie-eating present-opening family-outing sort of holiday thing. And part of the reason I can say this, of course, is that my mom is doing the lion's share of the work for the Christmas Eve smorgasbord and the Christmas dinner. Much appreciated every year, but this year in particular.

Also, in case this makes things even less onerous:

You do not have to decide now what book to write next.

(Also, you have eaten recently, haven't you?)
And thanks for the card!

I had a nice breakfast. Really the eaten-recently question is for conventions; at holidays there are almost always other people around, and I almost always want to feed them, so then I remember about food.
