I have made this short story, and it is not a novelette! Hurrah. It's still kind of a long short story, but still: not a novelette. This is some comfort to me.

Also now I have this narrator's voice down on the page and therefore exorcised. And therefore he will not turn up again to plague me. Because that worked so well with Carter Hall, right? Just write the story down and the character's voice will be satisfied....

Sigh. Well, I don't yet know I'm wrong.

This is the first short story I've finished since Grandpa died. This is a good milestone.

It's good to start optimistic! And hurrah for keeping it in line.:)

It always goes one step at a time. Bird by bird. :)

Noted. And thanks for your comment about the opposite of validation-addicts. That actually fairly accurately describes me, a behavior I am trying to de-emphasize.

Good show!

I hate it when my short stories turn into novelettes. It's like they're saying, "Don't sell me! I don't want to leave home!"

Yah, exactly. "I would prefer not to get any attention if it's all the same to you." Silly stories.
