I love the first day I really, really don't feel sick any more except for a few lingering symptoms. It's like I got superpowers overnight. "Able to sort laundry in a single bound!" Hmm. So they're mediocrepowers, actually. But still: ability to accomplish stuff, oh hurrah.

The down side to waking up with [livejournal.com profile] markgritter's alarm on the days he's going to California--and being able to do stuff after a week of not--is that I am getting hungry for lunch now. Really hungry for lunch now. It is not yet 10:00 a.m. If I have lunch now, I will fall over on my head before the folks and Grandma and Johan get here for dinner. Lunch has to happen later. So now I have to figure out what I can have for a late morning snack. Which is a good problem to have, don't get me wrong--I've been sore-throated and vertigo-nauseated and generally not feeling like food, so wanting some more is good. It's just that which food may be a nontrivial problem.

Defaulting to hazelnuts may be one of my more spectacular mediocrepowers, actually. Defaults To Hazelnuts Woman To The Rescue! Needs A Semicolon To Survive Girl Is On The Case!

Second breakfast! :D We just had eggnog french toast, in honor of eggnog season starting.

I honor eggnog by giving all of my share to [livejournal.com profile] greykev or my godfather. I am not, in fact, all about the 'nog. But I'm glad you're happy.

Also I have no idea how you have decided that eggnog season has started, as eggnog season does not start until December 1 at the very earliest. But as I said: glad you're happy.

Because it's in the stores! But only Bud's Eggnog, none of that Berkeley Farms stuff. ;)

Eggnog breeding has gotten out of control, so they've decided on a significant extension of the season this year, and also a raise in the limit. Permit holders may now shoot up to seven male eggnog and two females.

I like it when you casually mention Johan stopping by because when I hear "Johan" I always think Johan K Santana so . . . hey! Cool! (Not that the other Johan isn't cool, but . . . Johan stopping by would be nifty. Well, probably a little strange.)

Lately people on my f-list have talked about getting over the flu or colds or viruses and how little energy they have while sick and remark on the return of the energy.

And I realized that I pretty much almost always must be in the same zone that other people are when sick (fatigue-wise). Stupid brain chemistry.

Glad to hear you have mediocrepowers, I'm sure superpowers aren't far off.

I hope your brain chemistry eases off a bit.

If Johan K. Santana stopped by, I would offer him a brownie, because the apple crisp isn't made yet. I have a rather limited repertoire on people stopping by, I'm afraid.

Okay, this thing where "lunch has to happen later". I suggest that the social eating schedule must be considered to take at best second place, behind the need to maintain workable blood sugar levels. It sounds like you resolved this with a snack now, which seems reasonable; but I still wish to register a bit of a query about the apparent priorities you were expressing.

In fact, "lunch has to happen later" was a very practical concern: even if we weren't having people for dinner, if I have dinner at 4:00, I will wake up tomorrow morning at 4:30 ready for breakfast. Which is not the desired outcome by any stretch.

The way to avoid this is to either have a substantial chunk of food in the middle of the day or, as I am in the middle of doing, have several smaller chunks of food in the middle of the day. So there were nuts and dried fruit at 10, and there was toast at noon, and there will probably be a bite of something else in a little bit here, and I will make it through to a dinnerish dinner that will allow me to sleep until a humanish hour thereby.

I've noticed that one of my totally useless superpowers is an excellent sense of time. Even in the middle of the night without access to clocks I am amazingly accurate. This never stops me from being late, it just makes me aware that I am late. I think this qualifies as a mediocrepower

I love that day, too! And if you are every in danger of a semicolon shortage, I seem to have a breeding colony over here.

Have you come across the book How to Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier?
