I seem to have sold a story: Shine anthology/DayBreak magazine wants to use my short-short, "Unintended Consequences," as promotional. The which makes me very happy, because promoting positive, upbeat SF is very close to my heart. So: yay!

If you're paying a lot of attention (and I'm not sure why you would be), you may have noticed a lot of short-short pieces lately. That's sort of along the lines of "accentuate the positive" at the moment: with the vertigo, writing time was really hard for awhile, and really short lengths were easier for me to do than longer ones. And better to get writing done than not get writing done, I have felt, and so the short-shorts. I'm not doing them exclusively, and it's been getting better now. But still: positivity, dammit. With a big ol' positive ax.

Mmmm, axes. Big axes! Positive axes! No wimpy uncertain axes!

Preferably fewer than 11 axes, but I suppose if that's what's needed....

(And congratulations on the short sale! Wait, does that mean you don't make money if the magazine goes up?)

I'm not sure what you're asking. This sale, as most short story sales, pays a per-word up front.

The phrase "sell short" appears frequently in the jargon of my work environment. Enough clue?

Yes, thanks, but I'm extremely confused about where my comment went (I didn't delete it, or at least not deliberately) and why yours doesn't appear to be in response to it in the view of the page I'm seeing. Stupid lj.

I'm puzzled by the comment weirdness too. I followed the link from the email notification to enter my response to your comment, but when I clicked "post" it got posted to the main post, and your comment I was replying to was nowhere to be seen.

As you say, stupid lj.

Congratulations!

I can't write very short stuff, so I am always impressed by it.

Congratulations! And I'm all for aggressive positivity. (Perhaps determined is a better word, but whichever, sometimes it is just the thing.)

I am in favor of having nothing whatsoever to do with Mr. In Between. In fact I am considering taking out a restraining order.

Yay sale!

Yay, sale!

Since kids, all of my pieces have been VERY short, as well. This novel idea I had was bad, bad, bad with the Fake Disease(tm) + Kids(r).
