Had approximately 1.6 million dizzying, nauseating tests today, but that is in the "necessary evils" category at the moment. When I got home, it was to find a letter from Stan Schmidt saying that Analog is buying "Some of Them Closer," which is my relativistic Montreal story.

I think the moral of the story is that when [livejournal.com profile] papersky says she wants me to write something, I should listen. Particularly if it joins up with an [livejournal.com profile] elisem bracelet ("The Stars Were Closer Then").

So that'll perk a body right up.

I have spent 20-odd years (actually more) realizing that I had numerous friends, and friends of friends, who have done things as writers, been places as writers, that I would never go. Generally speaking, I have been okay with this; it has merely been the ongoing noise in my mind. But *Analog*? This is the spot where I really want to jump up in the air and click my heels, and start screaming and shouting Woo-hoo, and lip synching the Caisson Song - well, maybe not the latter -- and be very happy and admiring. I had always wanted to sell a story to Analog -- never did. Keep up the good work!

Nate

Thanks, Nate. I like being in Analog. It, like Nature and Nature Physics, makes the former-physicist components of my brain very happy.

In my experience Jo is always right and stories are ofter her fault. And it's all good.
