mrissa: (question)

I send Christmas cards. Lots and lots of Christmas cards. I like Christmas cards. If you would like a Christmas card, please leave me your address here or send it to mris at-sign marissalingen dot com. Please let me know if you'd like to send me one as well, and I will send you my address. (In this, as in all things, I do not require strict reciprocity agreements. You may receive without sending or vice versa.)

Also, please let me know if "merry Christmas" is an inappropriate greeting for you for whatever reason. When I wish people a merry Christmas, I do not assume that they have an abiding and orthodox faith in Jesus Christ, or should have. Christmas started out a pagan holiday and certainly has a large secular component (which I also celebrate and find reasonable -- you don't get to thief someone else's religious holidays and symbolism and then grumble that people are doing what they want to with the stuff you already stole). But if it will make you cringe instead of smiling if I wish you a merry Christmas, please let me know what else you intend to celebrate, and I will adjust accordingly. The goal is to make you smile with something pleasant and celebratory in the mail, not to beat you about the head with the baby Jesus. I don't think he would have enjoyed that, and neither you nor I will, so I think it can be disposed of entirely.

No, it's not up to me. I'm not going to psychically acquire your address. If you want me to send you a card, send me your address, and if you don't particularly, don't. It's no big deal to me, either way, but it's also not a choice I can make for you.

Ah, sorry, that's not quite what I meant. I wasn't being very clear. "Up to you" meant "send whatever you wish".

It's a shame you can't psychicially acquire stuff, though. That would be rather cool.
