I put Valjean, but I sing along to both him and Javert. Javert is, however, in my opinion the more intriguing character.

There are people who don't want to sing Javert?

See, that's what this poll was meant to determine.

Well, that's pretty definitive so far.

Yep. Not technically everybody, but certainly more people than can be contained in this icon.

I should note that the person making the claim that there are such people himself sings Javert all the time. When I confronted him with this tiny but damning piece of evidence, he claimed that he simply sings Javert because he has the range for it and not because it is fun. In fact, he disclaimed the idea of Javert being fun at all.

This led to me demonstrating my Tachikoma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachikoma) voice not just for the Confrontation scene but also as Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, and various bits of Shakespeare's Mark Antony. This amused and alarmed [livejournal.com profile] timprov enough that he is now talking of recording me doing it.

It puts me in mind of the time he found out I could sing the Cure with a 1920s jazz singer voice. It's just that kind of day.

I have had, if not that day specifically, comparable days-- most recently, the one where some friends and I discovered a video of a Dalek singing "Tainted Love" and worked out which other pop standards sounded best when covered by Daleks. ("Billie Jean" was the consensus winner.)

It sounds like they just processed the original through a ring modulator: here (http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=414669627409).

One of the things I like so much about Les Mis is that it is so very singable.

I sing along with both Valjean and Javert, myself. And there's some awesome Enjolras stuff.

I sing along to all of it, pretty much. I picked Mme. T. because it IS in my range, and I think I could play her pretty darn well. ;)

To be fair, The Confrontation really is one of the most fun things to sing with a buddy. It's just so... dramatic.

Like Roane, I sing along to all of it. But I'm not picking any of it because 1) I'm tone deaf and 2) none of them are in my range. (When I do finally manage to hit a note, I'm a tenor. But I'm also female....)

I also sing everything (badly). This is the joy of singing by myself in my car instead of somewhere all official-like!

Man, I would give anything to be able to sing her part! I can sing Eponine just fine, but I just don't have the balls for Mme. T *grins*

It could be like that thing Elise went to, "Night of a Thousand Stevies." Only with Javert.

I tend to sing all of it, though I refuse to sing "I Dreamed a Dream" solo (even though it's in my range). However, my brain was broken, years ago, by my friend Brian singing the first act finale by himself:

I think M. Thenardier is the most fun, but Javert after that. And the order might be reversed, or involve Fantine, if you asked me on a different day.

How can anyone resist singing "We'll be ready for these schoolboys, they will wet themselves with blood"? Or failing that, "Messieur le Mayor, you'll wear a different chaaaain"?

Hmph. Some people and their lack of desire to sing about the flame and the sword. I don't even know what.

Javert or Eponine, although Fantine and Valjean have some good bits too. (I'm not a good enough actor or singer to do justice to any of them, of course, but if we're talking about what parts I gleefully sing along with on recordings, it's them. And Marius and Cosette's parts I fast-forward past, as a rule.)

I sing specific bits more than I do characters; the castle on a cloud song, the lines about a pup growing up, empty chairs and empty tables, and really, is there anyone who can't resist one day more?
