I think I'm done with the necessary Christmas shopping for the year.

This doesn't preclude stocking stuffers, but.

Since it is not December, this is striking me as a tiny bit ridiculous, but not in a bad way.

Well, at least it's after Thanksgiving.

I haven't even started thinking about updating my wish-list for Christmas yet.

I don't update mine for Christmas mostly. I update it when there's something I see that looks interesting enough to add. Then I don't have to try to remember what it was I was thinking of that [livejournal.com profile] buymeaclue liked or was it [livejournal.com profile] txanne and what was that thing [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel and [livejournal.com profile] papersky went to see in theaters and reported was good that might be out on DVD now...none of that. Easy.

That's kinda...I dunno...logical or something? Works for things that just come to mind, but doesn't do so well when one needs to somehow find things to list.

You're setting a fine example for the rest of us. I have been asking for Christmas wish lists for quite some time, and am still waiting.

Well done.

Can I admire you from a distance?

Admiration from a distance is always permitted. My Scandosotan personal boundaries aren't that extreme!

Wow! I have all but one person shopped for. I still need to finish a couple dozen small gifts (however) and then there are the cards that I always mean to get in the mail, but somehow they sit there...*blush*.

I bow to your industriousness.

I haven't finished Christmas cards yet. Soon, though; I felt so icky yesterday that I couldn't do much but sit on the couch and sign cards. I hope you don't get your chores done that way.

Now if you would just tell us what you got people I would have even more inspiration. Oh wait ...

I got Grandma a long necklace! She used to have to have Grandpa do up her necklaces for her, so she needs longer ones now.

I think she's the only one on my list who's guaranteed to be not reading this and doesn't have someone I want to peripherally surprise reading this.

Mine are all done except for one I've been waiting to order so it wouldn't get there ridiculously early. But I know what I'm getting and where to get, just have to pick the exact design from what's available.

Whereas I just got the birthday gifts for the folks with early-to-mid-November birthdays posted out this past weekend.

When I was shopping for birthday cards, I found one that said on the front, "This card is a unique expression of my personality." And on the inside, "And is therefore late."

I didn't buy it only because I refuse allow myself to think of lateness-with-birthday-gifts as an expression of my personality. I'd rather think of it as a quirk of my immature self that I will eradicate when I achieve responsible adulthood. Whenever that happens.

Whereas when I achieve responsible adulthood, I will mellow about having to Do! All! The! Things! Nownownow!

Well. It's a hope, at least.

I admire this. I never achieve it, but I admire it.

My grandmother, on the other hand, used to buy all our Christmas presents by, oh, August? One year in October we decided to do a white elephant gift exchange instead... she was quite peeved, as she had already bought and wrapped all our gifts and stuck them in the attic. I think she gave us some of them for Easter, but she had to unwrap them.

I am still hoping to read a "things I did not get you all for Christmas" list because I found three wonderful objects on one of them that were required at my house. My favorite was the rolling fishmonster. Still in play here. And I would never ever have found it without you. So thank you.

I'm in the same boat. I've just collected things over the past few months. I've resisted wrapping them until December in keeping with the holiday spirit. But it's hard to resist thinking I've missed something or need to go buy something else.

My gran used to do her Xmas shopping for the next year at the day-after-Xmas sales. Needless to say her gifts were always of the generic wallets and scarves variety. But she never forgot a birthday, which I'm beginning to see is a gift in and of itself.
