This is the worst vertigo day I've had all year.

Tell me something good, please?

I just finished the first draft of my Yuletide story.

And there is really fascinating stem cell research going on.

A friend's daughter requested pre-made cotton candy at the grocery store for insulating the attic of the gingerbread house currently under construction.

I think she should keep that one. If there's doubt, she should remind herself of this incident.

I sent Merwin a link to a rocker and ottoman for the baby's room only to discover he'd already found the exact same one, determined I would like it, and ordered it. Also, Merwin's mom sent us an amazing scrapbook of the wedding.

And finally, Puppy's Minnesota app is fully in and complete, as of a week ago.

I have waffles for you!

They were on sale! And I shall deliver them on Christmas.

Feel steadier soon...

My new eye doctor made my pupils go all wide-n-stuff and says that my eyes are good and I don't have to see him again for two years.

Also, your post is blurry.

I had the day off work due to a 3 hour power outage, and got to drive elsewhere and explore the nearest bulk foods and natural foods store?

(Which is somewhere I'll end up driving through every couple of weeks, so it's good that I know what they've got now.)

Ours has a robot and a spaceship and a glass Aslan.

Also it has a grandpa mousie reading to a little girl mousie. He is reading Kipling. You can't read the book on the ornament, but I can tell you: it's Kipling.

After about a billion meetings, half-a-dozen revisions to the project plan, and some savvy political maneuvering by my boss, we got approval to do the Thing We Wanted to Do with the Online Help. Which is good, because all our backup plans for if we didn't get approval sucked.

I brought my boss a bottle of good champagne to thank her.

I finished The Goblin Corp about two weeks ago. Another winning recommendation from your "Books Read" posts.

My wife also enjoyed it, even though she never played D&D.

When I was littler, my family went every year to the Minnesota Christmas Revels. When I was slightly bigger, I was in the Revels as a kid--singing and dancing and wearing costumes and running around backstage snitching sugar cubes from the tea table. Then the Minnesota Revels died from lack of funds.

Later this week, I'll see the Boston Revels with my girlfriend and her family, for whom the Revels are also A Tradition. They will be bigger and fancier Revels than I am used to, but they will be Revels. It's been six years, at least.

I can't wait.

I am also going to see the Revels this year at Sanders Theatre. I didn't last year, but did manage to go in 2009 (when, TBH, I really needed it).

That would be a good enough thing to comment about, but it is not the really good thing that truly deserves mention.

The really good thing? [livejournal.com profile] aedifica is going to see the Revels this year at Sanders Theatre. From the seat next to mine.

A few minutes ago I looked out the front window while decorating our tree and saw a trio of freshly groomed, very white, fluffy small dogs go by. They were wearing homemade red and green Christmas sweaters. They seemed extremely pleased with themselves and kept looking back at their owner as if to say, "This is the best walk ever!" with their happy doggie smiles.

I just noticed that a friend's Christmas card from last year featured cardinals. And I happen to have cardinal address stickers and seals on hand, courtesy of a nature society. With the pencil sharpener stamp (http://cmgworldwide.com/news/?p=2706) I just put on the envelope of her card, they add to the minor yet real satisfaction of preparing something with a little extra person-specific attention.

Also, the siblings-in-law and their sprogs sent me Periodic Tales (http://www.powells.com/biblio/62-9780061824739-0).

And speaking of elements: finding these earrings (http://www.etsy.com/listing/58742367/atomic-symbol-for-silver-earrings) for the niece pleased me greatly.

In addition to the wonderful happy bit of news I already mentioned in the reply to [livejournal.com profile] aamcnamara:

I have seen and enjoyed Hugo; received my nearly-final Arisia panel schedule which has only one morning panel (last year: three) and requires me to moderate only two (last year: five); acquired a new shiny toy as a gift from my employer; had other pleasant employer-related things happen; and had an amusing misunderstanding of an email subject line (mentioned over on G+).

Also, I just bought him an ocarina for Christmas (I had to look up what it was).

There, that's two good things! Feel better, hope it eases up a little.

I have tried a new cookie recipe on my usual test subjects (a/k/a, anyone who walks into my kitchen) and have been informed that this one is a keeper. http://smittenkitchen.com/2011/12/nutmeg-maple-butter-cookies/. Personally, I still think last year's double ginger shortbread were far superior in texture, but who's to argue with the demands of one's housemates?

By which I mean 2012 in general, not Christmas 2012.
