Dear friends, can you please be careful with your similes? Those things'll leave a mark.

Case in point: yesterday I was reading an internet argument I decided not to participate in. And I had mostly decided by the time I got to this line. But then somebody said something like, "It'd be like if DC hired Nicola Griffith, and--" And I don't even know what the rest of their argument was or if it was right or wrong. Because my brain had completely shut down and was busy going ooh shiny Nicola Griffith superhero comics send at least three copies to my house soonest. And my brain has been pondering what those would be like ever since.

Similes. They're dangerous. Use responsibly.

Now, are we talking Slow River comics, or The Blue Place comics? I mean, I'd be lining up for either/both, but they'd have a rather different feel.

I'm talking Nicola Griffith doing something new and different and intended originally for comics, but still Nicola Griffithy.

As long as we're wishing for unicorns.

Oh, sorry, I phrased that poorly. I wasn't thinking of a comic version of the existing books. Rather, something of that general feel -- which for me was very different between those two series.

Perhaps someone should mention the idea of writing a comic to Nicola Griffith... :)

Ah, okay! In that case if anybody could manage visuals to get the feel of The Blue Place right, I would totally bake them cookies and bring those cookies to every con we went to in common after that. Every. Single. Con. Because while Slow River has its own charms, the Aud books have both my heart and my respect.

I'm glad she writes books.

She's good at it. She should stick to it, I say.

But what I actually wanted to say is that I didn't know you'd read those, and they're good, aren't they?

Oh yes, I am probably even more glad to have her books, because there's more book per unit book in a book than in a graphic novel.

But if she would just magically find more time and energy in the day and do both.

And oh yes. They are so very good. I love those.
