This afternoon I made short story sale #99. “Unsolved Logistical Problems in Time Travel (Spring Semester)” is going to Nature Futures. Hurrah! I love selling to Nature, not least because I feel like I’m talking a bit to my old profs.

This is one of the stories that I’ve finished in this hyperproductive period, so I’m feeling a bit vindicated on that front. But mostly just pleased, pleased, pleased.

Cool!

But I can't figure out how Barbara Feldon fits in.

It's an old Paula Poundstone routine.

Ooo, gronk*! I'll try to find it.

(*I like Paula Poundstone but my vocal range will not support a squee.)

Woooo!

(And I guess selling to Nature makes you a Natural writer...)

In response to the title, as one of my mentors puts it, "You can't expect to solve the hardest problems in your field if you don't know what they are." I'm looking forward to this one.

Yay, you sold a sunspot story!

And to Nature, that's so cool. And 99! Congratulations.

Now I am trying to corral my brain back to the two stories and one novel I'm trying to do all at once this week rather than letting it hare off after a literal sunspot story.

Not today. But perhaps soon.

Yay! And that's a very nice stick in my brain sort of a title, too.

Yay! I love that I keep running into your stories by accident or have people recommend them to me.

Do you have anything special planned for 100?

I love that you do too. It makes me feel like a Real Grown-Up Writer. (Which I transparently am, but now is not the heyday of short genre fiction writers getting recognition, so every bit helps.)

I have said that I'm having a party for 100, but what we do for that party will depend quite heavily on when 100 is, how much energy I have, what's seasonally available, etc. The available range for size, timing, location, and contents of party is quite broad.

Really, really love the title, and can't wait to read it.
