mrissa: (good mris pic)
[personal profile] mrissa
In a fit of spring cleaning, I have cut down on my friendslist. This time when doing this I removed a bunch of people I know in real life and never see on lj any more but do keep up with on other social media. Let me know if I'm wrong and you intend to still be around lj (but I expect mostly you just won't see this). It's meant to be about usage, about mentally keeping track of who's where. Also I can't think when the last time was that I posted anything locked, but: not recently.

I'm still on LJ, and plan to be for the foreseeable future. I don't post or comment much, but I read my flist.

I had already finished my pruning when I posted my entry, so the fact that you are still friended means I am unlikely to go back and defriend you.

Unless of course you do something hideously offensive to me or my family, in which case...I will probably keep you friended and consult anxiously with [livejournal.com profile] cowfan about whether you need medical care, because that's just not you.

So I'm still on, too? I don't post much, but I do read your posts. I especially enjoy the book reviews.

I'm glad to hear it! Yes, you're still on. Although if I had some urgent medical concern about [livejournal.com profile] fmsv, I would probably use some non-lj medium to communicate it. Let's hope that protocol is never, ever used.

Hoping that I have not been pruned. This last year has left me precious little time to post, but I still read...really!

You can find this out (spoiler: not pruned) by hovering your mouse over someone's icon. It will say, "You and mrissa are mutual friends!" And then you will be reassured.

I note that we are not mutual friends, but honestly I almost never post so you're not missing much.

I feel like "friends" is a misleading term for lj lists anyway. I have not "friended back" several people with whom I am either cordial acquaintances or actual friends because I'm not posting anything under lock and they're not posting anything at all, so...there's no reason to have them on the reading list function that is known for no good reason as "friends." Early in my lj usage, I friended back nearly automatically. Now not so much.

Renaming "friends" to "feed" (as they did a while back) strikes me as more accurate and less emotionally loaded.

Mine is still called "friends." I get "view friends feed" and "manage friends" and like that.

("Manage friends" always strikes me as being like having a "herd cats" button.)

Mine says "edit friends" which always seems like a power that I would use only for good, but probably shouldn't be trusted with!

Yah, "write requested crits for friends" is not the same thing at all.

Unlike "search friends", which is a power I see very little reason for me ever to want to use at all.

I suppose we should be glad it's not "Stop and frisk friends", really.

I STILL WISH TO BE FRIENDS PLZ KTHXBYE.

You actually post. So you are definitely not in the category of "never see them around lj any more."

I'm trying to be here more. Facebook doesn't really leave much room for in depth thought.

Indeed, and I know that some people adore unthreaded replies, but I do NOT.

I'm surprised to see I'm still on your flist here! I pretty much only log in anymore to read you and Elise, heh.

Elise-comments must be why I have the impression I've seen you on lj recently.

If we ever manage to meet in real life, I have a not-a-birthday present for you. Minicon, perhaps?
