The end of an era

I just made my blog cross-post to dreamwidth rather than to livejournal. That's how it's going to go from here on out, so if you want to read my stuff, you can either go to www.marissalingen.com/blog/ or to mrissa.dreamwidth.org. The website with my own name on it is my "home presence" on the internet and the likeliest to be stable. I'm also on Facebook and Twitter under my own name if you want to find me there.

I will still read my livejournal friendslist, so if you're not going anywhere, I'll still read that.

I am theoretically here, maybe sort of possibly in a cross-posting kind of way if that import from LJ ever finishes, but I will say that currently Facebook is the thing I am most likely to read (and how funny is that, given their penchant for hiding stuff), and what I would appreciate most is links to blog posts appearing there when you write something.

I will think about it. I will also think about putting blog links on Twitter. Frankly, I probably will be bad and inconsistent about both, and that's because I don't like directly repeating content when people are likely to read both places instead of just one. Since I'm not making locked posts any more, people can choose dreamwidth or my blog (and formerly could choose livejournal or my blog) and not think, "blah blah blah already read this."

I suppose they could just not click on links posted on FB or Twitter if they know they read my blog elsewhere.

I understand the dilemma. I've started sharing links to my infrequent posts simply because I know that there is almost no crossover of people who read both (you manage to be one of the few, the proud, in the center of that Venn diagram--go you!).
