bad influence
Dec. 30th, 2004 10:03 pmWhy, oh why, oh why would reading The Disorderly Knights get me in the mood to plot my Aesir noir novel? Why?
Anyway, I like plotting, so I suppose I can't complain. Or shouldn't.
The ending of The Disorderly Knights was just glorious, just plain magnificent. Plotty and twisty and lovely. Most of you already know this, probably, but oh. So good. Will be looking for copies of this series.
Now I'm reading Summoned to Destiny, an anthology with a
ksumnersmith story. Haven't gotten very far into it, but it seemed like the right thing to pick up at the time. My brain has had very firm notions of what I should read next and has not been informing the conscious bits of why, lately. Probably a coping mechanism for dealing with the wealth of choices after Christmas. Mmmmmm, Christmas books.
Edited To Add: Hey,
msagara has a story in this antho, too! I didn't actually look at the ToC. I just said, "That's Karina's book!" and picked up a copy. For nifty.

Our Hero And Detective, Sorkvir Sturlason, just got released from ten years of thralldom, to which he was unjustly sentenced when he was blamed for a murder one of the Aesir committed. He is not a happy kid.

Date: 2004-12-31 08:56 pm (UTC)And a good point. I know, am friends with or have since met more than half the people in that book... So I suppose I should have said, "Read Michelle Sagara West's story! It's most excellent."

Date: 2004-12-31 09:12 pm (UTC)My Aesir noir novel seems to have picked up the fun associated with that universe, even if it's 400 years later, and even if Loki has been chained by the beginning of it. (Not having Loki chained yet makes for a more fun book, I think. I'm always more interested in the bits before they really have their falling out, when he's hauling Thor around in ladies' dresses and the like.)
